Henry is just the cutest little baby! He's also a really happy baby. I've been having a hard time getting my camera ready at just the right moments to capture him smiling, but fortunately I've figured out how to take screen shots within videos on our camera. So when he's in a smiley mood, I'll take a quick video and get a few different smiles out of it. Here's what I got on Friday morning:
I love that little boy!!
And, as promised, I took a picture of him in one of his new owl outfits:
I was so excited to find an owl outfit that was for little boys- usually they're just for girls. I tried to get a picture of him in his other owl outfit, but he was moving in his swing, so the picture didn't turn out. I'll have to wait until the next time he wears it. It's super cute, though. Trust me.
And, after days of super short naps, Henry finally decided that today would be a good day to just sleep. He took a nap from about 12:30-3:30, ate, and then he went right back to sleep at 4-ish. I hope he'll still sleep tonight.
----Aaaand of course as soon as I write that, he wakes up.
So that concludes this blog post. :)

Poopocalypse 2
So Jeff has been gone for over a day now. I think that I've been doing pretty well in his absence, too. I had to clip Henry's nails, which I've been dreading and putting off for a long time, but ended up not being a big deal. And I've been puked on several times, but have handled it like a champ. Today, however, Henry unleashed "Poopocalypse 2: Uncharted Territory."
It's hard to explain, so let me show you:
All I had was my cameraphone at the time, and since I don't have my iphone 5 yet (because it's not out), my phone pics aren't the best. But it gives you a pretty good idea of what was going on.
Luckily, I had set Henry down on his changing pad, because it was completely covered in poo within seconds. Also, that's what I ended up carrying him down to the bathtub in, so I was extra lucky.
I actually considered having my little brother, Layne, just grab me some scissors so I could cut this onesie off of him. I thought it might be easier than getting poop on his head and face. I decided against it though because it would've been really wasteful, and instead had my brother grab me two plastic grocery bags so I could put the diaper in one and his outfit in the other.
Even though I was super careful, he still got poo all over himself.
So I gave Henry the bath of the century and just laughed to myself. After he was clean (which didn't take as long as I thought it would, thankfully) I had to wash his changing pad and his bath chair. That took longer than anything else, but they're both pretty small so it wasn't bad.
The hardest part of this whole incident was that I wasn't just able to yell "HELP" and have Jeff come running. I had to be calm and make specific requests in order to get the help I needed. I also didn't have Jeff's help strategizing how to go about cleaning him up, so I just kinda sat there laughing at Henry while I thought up what to do.
Everything turned out fine, and I was able to dress him in one of the new outfits I got him today. I was given a gift card to Old Navy, so I got to buy Henry lots of clothes, which doesn't usually happen since almost all of his clothes have been gifted by friends and relatives. I almost went buck wild in the clearance section, but reigned it in when I saw two (full-price) blue owl outfits I wanted more than anything. I'll for sure post pics when he wears them.
So what do you think? Is "Poopocalypse 2: Uncharted Territory" the most accurate sequel name or is there a better one? Hit me with your best sequel title!
It's hard to explain, so let me show you:

Can you see the poo that's oozing out of his onesie? There was a whole puddle up there!

This is just the beginning of the poop-smear. What's notable about this picture is how calm he is about all of it.
Yep. There was even poo on his ears and on the top of his head.
This is where everything that didn't end up in his onesie landed.

Henry's Blessing
We had the opportunity to bless Henry last Saturday with our friends and family there to support us, and it was a really fantastic experience. Henry is such a precious little person, and I feel really blessed to be his mom.
Here are some pictures!
My mom, Jeff's mom, and my grandmother (mom's mother) dressing Henry for his blessing.
The little white tuxedo that Henry was blessed in was the same tux that Jeff wore when he was blessed 26 years ago!
His cuteness was almost too much for my mom. :)
His little tux included a little white shirt attached to satin pants, satin jacket (with tails), a bow tie and a cummerbund.
Whenever Henry's hot, he gets super lethargic and just sleeps.
Can you see his little faux-hawk? And my cousin Camille?
It woke him up just a bit when I took out his pacifier. Also, there's my cousin Savannah.
It's a bit harder to see his bow tie and cummerbund from this angle.
That's our sweet landlord, Herman, who drove back from California early in the morning to make it to the blessing.
Injured Patrick hangin' out in the background.
Our cute little family.
All the men who stood in the circle: My brothers, Nate and Layne, my grandpa, my dad, our bishop, Jeff, Jeff's step-dad, and our landlord, Herman DuToit.

Henry's Newborn Pictures
I'm so excited to finally have these pictures! Here are some of my favorites:
We also put together a birth announcement for some of our friends and family who aren't on facebook. It looks like this:
Yep-I stole the idea from Pinterest. But it's super cute, so I don't feel bad about it :)There was another picture I liked better for the bottom because of the way Henry looked in it, but the other elements of the picture didn't work as well as this one.
I love how cute Henry looks in this picture! I just don't like that the sign is askew, my hair isn't right, and my face is too much in the frame. But Henry looks so adorable and tiny!
So what do you think? Which ones should I frame?

Fun Surprises
When Henry was 2 weeks old (last Friday), Jeff was watching him while I got some sleep. Since Jeff has had paternity leave on Thursdays and Fridays during the month of August, he's been taking Henry on those early mornings so I can get more sleep than I normally get.
So last Friday Jeff is just hanging out in his underwear on the couch, holding Henry, and feels something wet on his leg. He naturally assumes that it's pee, so he doesn't feel too alarmed. He stands up to get a new diaper for Henry and sees that it wasn't pee, but poop. A liquid river of poop that isn't stopping! Jeff picks Henry up under his neck, grabs his feet, and takes him to his crib as quickly as he can. He's scrambling to get the wipes out of the container, but they just won't come, so he's throwing the plastic container around like crazy. I hear the struggle with the wipes going on through the monitor while I'm trying to sleep in our bedroom. It's loud and keeps me awake, so naturally I turn it off. Right after I turn it off, Jeff starts speaking into it (somewhat loudly), asking me to hurry in and help him. I obviously don't hear him, which only makes the situation more frustrating and desperate for Jeff. Almost in a panic, he takes off his poop-covered clothes, throws them in the washer, runs into our bedroom (completely naked), and says "I NEED YOUR HELP!"
I jumped right out of bed, threw my hair up in a bun, and we got the situation sorted out. Jeff started calling the situation "Poopocalypse." Jeff also had the misfortune of being thrown up on an hour after he had cleaned himself up and changed his clothes! So far, it has been the biggest poop drama we've experienced and we've just had to laugh about it.
Well yesterday, Henry decided to celebrate the one-week anniversary of "Poopocalypse" by vomiting all over me and creating "Pukepocalypse." I've never seen that much puke come out of a baby before. He threw up like a full-grown man! And of course, it had to happen right after I had gotten out of the shower and changed into an actual outfit. I mostly just wear a pair of Jeff's basketball shorts and a t-shirt all day, every day, but of course as soon as I put on a cute dress he pukes all over me. This time, though, I managed to get a picture. Even though it's a pretty good picture, it doesn't completely capture just how much vomit there really was.
I ended up having to throw everything I was wearing in the washer. You'll notice that my hair is wet, which shows you just how recently I had gotten out of the shower. Just rotten luck all around.
It's alright though, because even though stuff like "Poopocalypse" and "Pukepocalypse" happens on a somewhat infrequent basis, stuff like this...
....happens much more often.

Amateur Photoshoot
We had our friend Robyn take Henry's newborn pictures a few days after he was born, and while we're waiting to see them, I wanted to take some pictures of my own. I don't really know anything about photography, but I have a beautiful little baby so I didn't let my ignorance keep me from taking lots of pictures of him. I also wanted to get pictures of him with some of the blankets that friends and family members made for him/gave him so they could see Henry enjoying them.
And, as those of you who read my blog regularly already know, this is where I post as many pictures of Henry as I want so here they are:
That's all for now. Once we get the other pictures (which, I'm sure, will look much more professional) I'm sure I'll be showing you those, too.

Usually I don't post my favorite picture first, but this time I did. This one's my favorite. It even looks like Henry's saying "peace!" to everyone.
He looks so sweet in this picture. I was so glad he was awake for our little photoshoot. :)
I love pictures of him where it looks like he's saying things.

He's been looking directly at me a lot more lately. Until recently he has just been looking past me at nothing in particular.
This is his "Who, me?" expression. It's often more exaggerated than this, though.
He has such a cute little tongue!
He has such big, pretty, blue eyes!

I love how surprised he looks in this one. So cute!
